As per a report in India Today, the women's wing of the party is said to be already preparing the ground for Priyanka to set off the campaign with a big bang.

The report said that Mahila Congress has been tasked to target the Akhilesh Yadav government and focus on the deteriorating law and order situation in UP.

At the same time, it has been asked to lay emphasis on women's safety.

The Congress party has reportedly been setting up meeting with victims of sexual violence in the state and also helping victims and families to lodge complaints and FIRs with the police.

Moreover, the report said, that the Mahila Congress was planning to gherao the Vidhan Sabha in the first week of September.

However, the party clarified that Priyanka was yet to take a final call on her campaign availability,

Mahila Congress chief Shobha Oza was quoted by India Today as saying, "Her role will be much larger. We can't restrict her to issues relating to a gender but of course this matter is close to her heart. She will fight for each and every citizen."

Meanwhile, a training programme was organised for all the district presidents and state office bearers of the Mahila Congress on the 30th and 31st of May in Lucknow with a brief overview of ideology and history of the party being imparted.

They were also supposedly updated on certain election-related issues and how to tackle them.

Over 250 women party workers participated in the event.
