Noida: A Hindu woman allegedly eloped with a Muslim man in Uttar Pradesh's Dadri village sparking tension on Wednesday, less than two months after a man there was lynched over rumours of beef consumption triggering a national outrage.

Her family members have lodged kidnapping complaint against the man.


DSP Anurag Singh said an FIR has been lodged under sections 363 (kidnapping) and 366 (inducing a woman to compel her marriage) of IPC.


"We are trying to trace the woman and the accused man. She was to get married to some Hindu man, which the family had arranged," he said adding she eloped with her Muslim "paramour" a day prior to her wedding.


50-year-old Mohammad Akhlaq, was lynched to death while his son Danish left severely injured by a mob on September 28 following allegations that the family had consumed beef.
