Maurya, 46, a Lok Sabha MP from Phulpur in Allahabad, said that if the BJP comes in power in the upcoming Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh, the party would send Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati to jail on corruption charges, reports Punjab Kesari.

Talking to reporters in Bara Gaon village located in Jalaun district, Maurya said that the governments led by Mayawati and Mulayam Singh were corrupt.

He further exuded confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party would form next government in Uttar Pradesh by winning at least 265 of the 404 seats next year.

The BJP won 71 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats from Uttar Pradesh in 2014, with two other seats going to an ally. The Samajwadi Party won five seats while the Congress got just two. The BSP drew a blank.

In subsequent bye-elections, however, the BJP has suffered ups and downs in the state.
