Woman attempts suicide after getting forced for marriage

Muzaffarnagar: A 23-year-old woman allegedly attempted suicide by hanging herself after a man 'forced' her to marry his brother at gun-point in Jasvantpuri under Civil Lines police station here, police said on Saturday.

The girl yesterday 'attempted suicide' by hanging from a ceiling in her house after one Inam allegedly forced her family to get her married to his younger brother Salman, Station House Officer of Civil Lines police station, Chander Kiran Yadav said.

She was rushed to a hospital in serious condition, he said.

The victim's mother complained that Inam yesterday entered their house and threatened her at gun-point?to marry of her daughter to his brother, Yadav said.

On the basis of her complaint, an FIR was registered against Inam, Salman and a woman who all are on the run, he said.

Police is on the lookout for them, the SHO added.
