Refusing to compromise on hygiene at any cost, a woman in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur area called off her wedding after she learnt that her betrothed had failed to construct a toilet at home.

“I called off the wedding because family had promised to get built a toilet at their residence but they didn't,” said Neha, who was all dressed up as a bride before she called off the wedding.

“We must do our bit to give impetus to PM Modi's "Swacch Bharat" initiative. Having toilet built at home is a basic need,” she told ANI.

However, the woman later tied knot with another suitor, who had a toilet at home, at a mass wedding organised by local NGO today.
