Memories of catastrophic floods return: Cloud burst in Uttarakhand; Rudraprayag-Badrinath highway route affected

Cloud burst was reported on Saturday in Rudraprayag region of Uttarakhand.

Dehradun: In what has suddenly brought back the horrific memories of the catastrophe that hit Uttarakhand regions in 2013, another cloud burst was reported on Saturday in Rudraprayag.

As per the initial information, rivers are in spate and Rudraprayag-Badrinath highway route has got affected.

Flash floods and landslides due to heavy rains are common in Uttarakhand due to monsoon season.

Moreover, to escape the heat wave that has engulfed several parts of the country, many people are visiting hilly regions to enjoy some cold weather.  

In 2013, thousands of people died and many went missing in Uttarakhand flash floods which was one of the worst natural disasters the country had faced.

The restoration work of the regions that were affected due to the calamity is still underway.
