Chandigarh: Cold conditions prevailed at most places in Punjab and Haryana today with fog once again showing up in the early hours.

Hisar in Haryana reeled under severe cold recording a low of 4.6 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal level, the MeT Department said here.


Karnal also experienced a cold night at 5.2 degrees Celsius, down two degrees while Ambala recorded a minimum temperature of 6.8 degrees Celsius.


Cold conditions also prevailed in Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, as the minimum temperature settled at 6.6 degrees Celsius.


Amritsar in Punjab was the coldest place recording a low of 5.4 degrees Celsius while Patiala's minimum temperature settled at 7.2 degrees Celsius.


However, Ludhiana recorded a low of 9.5 degrees Celsius, up by one notch from normal.


Fog once again prevailed at most places in the two states early hours of today. However, the visibility level had improved than what it was until a few days back when dense fog had thrown normal life out of gear, a  MeT Department official said.


The maximum temperature, which had been hovering in the range of 10-13 degrees Celsius at most places in the two states, including Chandigarh, until two days back, registered an increase since yesterday and was hovering over 20 degrees Celsius.
