CPI-M leader Rabin Deb met Chief Electoral Officer Sunil Gupta here at the Election Commission and sought the civil servant`s removal.

The poll watchdog on Tuesday rejected the chief secretary`s response to its show-cause notice issued to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on April 14 for violating the model code of conduct by announcing the creation of a separate district in Bengal where polls are underway.

The poll panel has sent a fresh notice to the chief minister`s Harish Chatterjee street residence.

Trinamool Congress MP and national spokesperson Derek O`Brien said the party will respond at the appropriate time.

"It has come to Harish Chatterjee Street. We have time till April 25. We will respond at the appropriate time, we will take action," O`Brien told the media here.
