Puebla (Mexico): At least 24 people were killed and 10 injured after a bus collided with a car in central Mexico, sparking a deadly inferno, officials have said.
Investigators searched for more potential victims in the charred vehicles hours after Sunday's fiery crash near the town of Jalpan in the central state of Puebla.
An official in the Puebla state prosecutor's office yesterday said 22 bodies were recovered from the bus and two from the car.
"The bus was full. Only 10 people managed to escape through the windows because the door was blocked by the other vehicle," the official said on condition of anonymity.
The governor of the neighboring eastern state of Veracruz, Javier Duarte, confirmed the death toll. The bus originated from his region.
