Some 4,000 migrants have been rescued from boats in the Strait of Sicily between Tunisia and Italy in the past two days, Italy`s coastguard said.
Riome: Some 4,000 migrants have been rescued from boats in the Strait of Sicily between Tunisia and Italy in the past two days, Italy`s coastguard said.
On Tuesday, 2,154 migrants were brought to safety, on top of the 1,850 rescued on Monday, the coastguard said, adding that a vessel from the EU border agency Frontex and a Greek cargo ship had assisted the Italian navy in rescuing all the passengers from 16 dinghies and a rowing boat.
