Moscow: A passenger Boeing 737 plane on Sunday crashed while landing at an airport in the Russian city of Kazan. According to reports, all 50 passengers died after the plane exploded while attempting to land on the runway.
The plane`s nose reportedly hit the ground while it was making a second attempt at landing at the airport`s runway. After the crash, the plane caught fire and the flames were extinguished by the firefighters at the scene in less than an hour, the reports said. The crash occured at about 7:20 pm local time (1520 GMT; 10:20 am EST). The flight was took off from Moscow`s Domodedovo airport. The plane belonged to Tatarstan Airlines, and the reports said that the cause of the crash is not yet known.
However, Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered to form a commission to probe into the cause of the crash.
According to reports, the head of the Investigative Committee, Vladimir Markin, said the pilot error, technical malfunction, or weather conditions might have led to the crash. There have been a number of deadly crashes in Russia in recent years and the last fatal airliner crash was in December when a Red Wings airline plane crashed at Moscow`s Vnukovo airport.
