China: 131 admitted to hospital after leak at chemical factory

Beijing: More than 130 people have been admitted to a hospital following a leakage at a chemical plant in China's Shandong province.

Around 30 Kg of diketene leaked from Beichen Biotechnology Company Limited in Shenxian County on June 21.

131 people, including 43 children, have been taken to a hospital, state-run Xinhua new agency reported.

According to the country government, 11 victims have been released from the hospital so far and the rest are stated to be in a stable condition.

Preliminary investigation has shown that the leakage was caused due to negligence.

Country's environmental bureau officials said the company has been ordered to shut down permanently.
