Infant dies after Bilawal Bhutto`s security stops family`s entry to hospital
A 10-month old baby girl died after her family was denied entry to Civil hospital due to security measures taken for the arrival of Pakistan Peoples Party chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Karachi: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan People's Party (PPP) chief was caught up in a political controversy following the death of a 10-month-old baby girl who was allegedly denied entry in a state-owned hospital in Karachi due to his visit.
The girl died after her father was allegedly denied entry by security staff at the Karachi's Civil Hospital that was closed during Mr Bilawal's visit, media reports said.
PPP chief, along with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, had visited the hospital to inaugurate Trauma Centre named after his mother and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
The girl's father said his child died as she did not get treatment due to the VIP protocol.
"First I came through bike, then on foot but was denied entry, in the meantime my baby girl died," he said.
Apparently all the entry and exit points of the hospital were closed and even ambulances were not allowed to enter the hospital during the visit.
After the incident was reported, Bilawal said he was deeply troubled by the death of child and has also ordered an inquiry. He also tweeted, "Anguished over Bisma's death. Am personally inquiring into this heart breaking incident to ascertain what went wrong."
