Beijing: Over 100 kindergarten children had a lucky escape today when they were trapped by a fire broke out in a shopping mall in China's eastern Fujian province.

The blaze started in a flower shop in the commercial block in Fujian province and spread through the building to the kindergarten located on the second floor, state-run China Daily quoted fire brigade officials as saying.


Some children were thrown to safety by adults in the kindergarten while others were waiting to catch them on the ground.


More than 100 kindergarten children got trapped in fire but were later rescued safely and those injured were taken to a hospital, officials said.


The cause of the fire is under investigation.
