The metro.co.uk, citing a study, said that young Greek women have overtaken Eastern European women as the dominant group in the prostitution industry.

It further said that the study, carried out by professor Gregory Laxos and his team at Panteion University in Athens, involved over 17,000 sex workers in Greece. Sex in Greece was some of the cheapest on offer in Europe, it said.

“Some women just do it for a cheese pie, or a sandwich they need to eat because they are hungry,” the report quoted Laxos as saying.

Prostitution is legal in Greece.
