Istanbul: Turkish fighter jets on Tuesday shot down a warplane of unknown origin after it ignored warnings and violated national airspace close to the Syrian border, media reports said.

It is still unclear which nation the warplane belonged to.


Also, reports said that the downed warplane was warned before being shot down by F-16 fighter jets.


Earlier, last month, Turkish jets shot down an unidentified drone that had also violated Turkey’s airspace.
