Lakeland: In a frightening discovery, a family in Florida found a 300-pound alligator in the home's swimming pool.

The 9-foot gator was believed to have broken through patio screen netting.


Thankfully, Craig Lear, the homeowner who went to let his family's three cats out onto the patio, he noticed bubbles in the water.


The Lears immediately called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. It took an hour to bring the reptile under control.
