At the opening ceremony, the Indian contingent will be led by its flagbearer PV Sindhu - the country's ace badminton player. Sindhu is one of the brightest gold-medal hopes for India in the women's singles event.

Among the 225-member contingent, hopes of a gold rush are led by the wrestling and shooting squads as the Indian athletes strive to cross the last edition's 15 gold medals and finish in the top three on the medals tally.
