Though she made her silver screen debut with Karan Johar's 'Student Of The Year', it was her second film 'Highway' with critically acclaimed filmmaker Imtiaz Ali that brought her loads of acclaim. Her portrayal of young and bubbly Veera Tripathi in the movie wooed the masses.

On completion of four years of the film, Alia got nostalgic as she took to Twitter and shared a post. "A film that changed my life. Will always always be so grateful for all the love the film got. Thank you #ImtiazAli @RandeepHooda #4YearsOfHighway," she tweeted.

Randeep Hooda, who played the male lead in the film, also shared an unseen photo on his Instagram account and captioned it saying. "This picture for me embodies the essence of the souls that lived on together forever .. the haves and have nots are equals under the sun even if only in the shadows cast by its kisses #4yearsofHighway @aliaa08 #ImtiazAli."

Directed and written by Imtiaz, 'Highway' was the story of a girl who developed Stockholm syndrome after being kidnapped. During an interview with Telegraph, Imtiaz stated it took him almost 15 years to bring the story on the canvas. "Highway has been a story that has stayed with me for 15 years. There was something in it that didn't die. Usually, you lose interest in a story beyond a certain point. But with Highway, there was something very subtle," he said.

The filmmaker had also stated once that initially, he was looking out for an older actress to match up with Hooda. However, the role went to Alia that made an effect on his film script.
