New Delhi: Legendary Malalayam actor Kollam Ajith breathed his last on early Thursday morning. The senior star had been undergoing treatment for stomach related ailment, reportedly. According to Indian Express, Kollam passed away around 3.40 am.

The veteran actor has featured in as many as 500 language films.The noted actor was revered for playing impressive parts in several Malayalam movies. He was famous for playing villainous roles with great conviction. Kollam made his debut in Malayalam movies with 'Parannu Parannu Parannu' in 1984. He then turned a director and scriptwriter for 'Calling Bell'. He also directed 'Pakal Pole'.


Some of this notable works include Hitlist, Nirnayam, Sooryachakram, Yuvajanotsavam, Nadodikkattu, No. 20 Madras Mail, Nirnayam, Aaraam Thampuran, Olympiyan Anthony Adam and Valliettan, Don, Prajapathi, Kunjachan, The Tiger, Boyy Friennd to name a few.


He was also seen in 1997 Bollywood superhit  'Virasat' which starred  Anil Kapoor, Tabu, Amrish Puri, Pooja Batra, Milind Gunaji and Govind Namdeo. The film was helmed by Priyadarshan and was adapted from the Tamil film 'Thevar Magan'.


He is survived by his wife Prameela and two children Gayathri and Sreehari.
