New Delhi: After petrol pumps, Biz Bazaar and fbb stores, it is now the Vodafone M-Pesa outlets where customers can withdraw cash.

Yes, in a major relief for Vodafone M-Pesa customers, they can now withdraw cash from over 120,000 M-Pesa outlets across the country.

The digital wallet player on Thursday said its customers can withdraw cash from its 1.2 lakh outlets across the country.

"Vodafone M-Pesa customers do not need to stand in long queues outside ATMs and bank branches for cash. We have invested in building a nationwide network of over 120,000 M-Pesa outlets, equivalent to the numbers of bank branches in the country.

"Our customers can visit any of these outlets and use the unique cash out feature of Vodafone M-Pesa to withdraw cash from their digital wallet at their convenience," Vodafone M-Pesa Business head Suresh Sethi said in a statement.

The move comes on a day when Future Retail group announced that customers will be able to withdraw cash from 258 Big Bazaar and fbb stores across the country from their own bank accounts.

Earlier, the government had permitted withdrawal of cash from 2500 petrol pumps across the country at the swipe of debit cards.

The move by Vodafone definitely comes as a major relief for its over 8.4 million plus Vodafone M-Pesa customers who can now withdraw cash using their digital wallet from any of Vodafone M-Pesa outlets across the country, subject to availability.

To avail the cash withdrawal facility, customers need to carry an identity proof to their nearest Vodafone M-Pesa outlet from where they can withdraw money, subject to availability, in line with RBI guidelines, the statement said.

Further, the Vodafone M-Pesa digital wallet too can be easily digitally loaded via credit or debit card or net banking.

The wallet can also be used to shop online, pay bills and remit money to family and friends.
