New Delhi: Amid rising cases of COVID-19 across the country, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) have cancelled the class 10th exams, while class 12th exams have been postponed until further notification.
In the latest updates even the upcoming session of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) has been postponed in the view of worsening COVID-19 situation in the country. The Indian School Certificate Examinations too followed suit and announced postponement of Class 10 ICSE and Class 12 ISC board examinations in light of rising COVID-19 cases. These notifications came as a big relief for lakhs of students.
The Central Board of Secondary Education has cancelled the CBSE Class 10 examination and postponed the Class 12 Board examinations amid the latest spike in coronavirus cases across the country. The HRD Ministry took the decision after a high-level meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to the board, the results for the class 10 examination will be announced based on the objective pattern internal assessment to be designed by the board.

The Council For The Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Monday (April 19) decided to cancel the class 10 board examinations due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation in the country. The CISCE also said that the status of exams for ICSE board class 12 exam remains the same as the previous order, that it will be conducted at a later date.
"The safety and wellbeing of our students and teaching faculty is our topmost priority and of paramount interest," the board said in an official statement.

The government had given students the option to attempt the entrance test four times. However, in view of the grim situation due to the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, it will not be easy to conduct the remaining sessions without risking the safety of the students.
Amid the surge in COVID-19 cases, the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Sunday (April 18, 2021) postponed the April session for JEE (Main) 2021.

Other than the CBSE, ICSE and NTA numerous state boards have announced cancellation of Class 10, Class 12 board exams in view of the ongoing pandemic. These are UP Board, Haryana Board, Rajasthan Board, Madhya Pradesh Board, Odisha Board, Gujarat Board, Punjab Board and Telangana Board.
