On the second day of the new phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive, several political leaders including Union health minister Harsh Vardhan, Union defence minister Rajnath Singh and Union minister for Communications, Electronics & Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad took the first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine. This comes a day after PM Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar took the first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan takes first jab of COVID-19 vaccine

Union Health Minsiter Harsh Vardhan and his wife Nutan Goel took the first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine at Delhi Heart and Lung Institute on Tuesday (March 2). 

Speaking about the vaccines, Vardhan stated, "Both these vaccines are safe, immunogenic and useful. Till now, around 1.5 crore people have been vaccinated. Only 0.0003% people have shown the minor AEFI effects till now."  "Vaccine Appropriate Behaviour along with COVID appropriate behaviour key to fighting virus," Vardhan added.  Pic Courtesy: IANS

Union defence minister Rajnath Singh takes first jab of COVID-19 vaccine

Union defence minister Rajnath Singh took the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine at RR Hospital in Delhi on Tuesday (March 2). Taking to Twitter, Singh wrote, " बस हो गया! (And it was done!) The first dosage of COVID-19 vaccine was administered to me at RR Hospital today. India’s resolve for making the country COVID free has been strengthened by this inoculation drive. The Vaccine is completely safe and hassle free. #LargestVaccineDrive."

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad receives COVID-19 vaccine

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad was administered the first dose of coronavirus vaccine at AIIMS in Patna on Tuesday (March 2). He also voluntarily paid Rs 250 for the vaccine. "Though the coronavirus vaccine is free in Bihar, I paid ₹ 250 to the hospital as price for the shot," he tweeted.
