West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who was allegedly pushed by 4-5 men while campaigning for state assembly elections in Nandigram, has suffered severe bone injuries in her left ankle and foot, right shoulder, forearm and neck, a senior doctor of the state-run SSKM hospital said in a medical bulletin issued late Wednesday night.

The SSKM Hospital has said that a team consisting of one cardiologist, an endocrinologist, a general surgery doctor, an orthopedist and a medical doctor has been constituted to monitor Bengal CM's health.

Mamata Banerjee alleges BJP behind the Nandigram attack

"I was standing outside my car with the door open. I was going to a temple there to offer my prayers. Few people came around my car and pushed the door. The door hit my leg," Mamata said, adding, "There was no local police, there was poor security... my legs are injured."

"Initial examination suggests severe bony injuries in her left ankle, foot & bruises, injuries in right shoulder, forearm & neck. CM complained of chest pain, breathlessness since the incident. She is kept under close watch for 48 hours," said Dr M Bandopadhya, IPGMER & SSKM Hospital on Wednesday night.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee under medical supervision

After the preliminary medical tests conducted on the TMC supremo, the doctors at the hospital decided to closely monitor Banerjee, who has been complaining of chest pain and breathlessness since the alleged attack at Nandigram in Purba Medinipur district earlier in the evening, for the next 48 hours.
