Jayanti Gupta is believed to be 3-4 years older than MS Dhoni, a fact that often surprises fans who assumed Dhoni was the elder sibling.

Like almost every Indian parent, Dhoni's father wanted him to focus more on studies and make career out of that instead of cricket but Jayanti kept convincing the family that MS Dhoni should pursue cricket as a career.

MSD's father Pan Singh Dhoni was delighted when he got a job in Indian Railways and years later his sister also got married to Gautam Gupta.

Jayanti and Gautam played a huge role in Dhoni's career early days in state and district-level cricket.
