Chandigarh rape case: Both uncles raped minor girl, younger one impregnated her, reveals DNA report
The child born to a 10-year-old rape victim in August this year, was fathered by victim`s younger uncle and not his elder uncle, revealed a fresh DNA report.
Chandigarh: The child born to a 10-year-old rape victim in August this year, was fathered by victim's younger uncle and not his elder uncle, revealed a fresh DNA report.
Initially, the police suspected that the girl's elder uncle, who was also arrested for allegedly raping her, fathered the child. However, they later rejected speculations after the elder uncle's DNA samples did not match to that of the newborn.
The police later arrested the younger uncle of the victim after the girl accused him too of raping her on several occasions.
The 10-year-old, a student at a Chandigarh government school, had complained of stomach pain in July 2017. The medical examination disclosed that she was six months pregnant.
The victim's family demanded that the foetus is aborted, however, the Supreme Court refused to allow the minor child undergo an abortion fearing a risk to her life.
The girl delivered a child on August 17 and a DNA test was conducted on her elder uncle the same day.
However, after the DNA report of the elder uncle turned out to be negative, the girl once again recorded her statement before the Chandigarh district court where she named her second uncle of assaulting her sexually.
The police arrested the 'other' uncle and sought a court's permission to re-match the DNA samples.
The DNA report surmised that younger uncle of the girl was the father of the newborn.
A senior police officer said, "While the main accused (elder uncle) had also raped the victim, it is clear that the father of the baby is the younger uncle."
