"She joined the party in the presence of BJP MLA and Punjab Minister Surjit Jyani at a conference organised by the party's Kisan Morcha here," Punjab BJP Kisan Morcha general secretary Gurwinder Singh said.

When asked, Kaur confirmed that she joined the BJP today.

Dalbir was earlier associated with Congress and Shrimoni Akali Dal.

Sarabjit died in a Pakistani jail following an attack on him by inmates in April 2013. He was convicted for terrorism and spying by a Pakistani court and was sentenced to death in 1991.

On the other hand, Sarabjit claimed he was a farmer who strayed into Pakistan from his village located on the border, three months after the bombings.

In 2008, the Pakistani government stayed his execution for an indefinite period.
