The Central government has approved the Noida-Greater Noida West Metro Project, which is an extension of the Aqua Line Metro in Gautam Buddh Nagar that passes through the Greater Noida West area, with a budget of Rs 2197 cr. It should be noted that the metro project was previously approved by the central government's Public Investment Board (PIB). The PIB approved and revised the budget before submitting it to the government for final approval. Now that the project is moving forward, the government has approved the budget for the metro, and construction is set to begin soon.
The Aqua Line metro extension, also known as Noida Extension, is proposed to connect Noida and Greater Noida (West) and is estimated to cost Rs 2,197 crore. The Aqua Line metro extension corridor will connect Noida Sector 51 and Knowledge Park V in Greater Noida (West). The route is proposed to have nine stations spread out over 14.95 kilometers.

The Greater Noida West Metro project will be a 14.95 km metro line covering 9 stations across its length. The first phase of the project will have a length of 9.15 km with 5 elevated stations. These five stations will be built for sector 122, sector 123, sector 4, sector 12 Ecotech, and sector 2. Following this, the construction of the second phase will begin with four metro stations.
According to officials, a four-story metro station will be built for this route in Gaur City, making Gautam Buddha Nagar the first city in the country to have one. The Aqua line Metro project will connect Sector-51 to the Greater Noida Extension (Greater Noida West).
The construction of the Greater Noida West Metro Project is expected to begin around March 2023. A tender will be floated out for the construction companies to take on the project. The construction work is expected to be completed around 2024.
