Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Sunday extended her support for holding Lok Sabha and state Assembly polls simultaneously, saying it would "eliminate" corruption and curb spending by political parties.

Raje said holding the polls together would be the right step towards electoral reform.


Appreciating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vocal support to the process, she said the step could be revolutionary.


"It will not only put an end to black money in politics but will also eliminate corruption and curb over spending in election process," she said.


The Rajasthan chief minister also lauded the announcements made by Modi on New Year's Eve, saying the schemes he announced - including direct cash transfer for better health and nutrition for pregnant women and secure interest rate on fixed deposits of senior citizens - were path-breaking steps.
