Has India skipper MS Dhoni played his last ODI match?
34-year-old`s batting position and form is definitely a cause for concern going forward.
New Delhi: It is quite likely that India's most successful skipper might have just played his last ODI for the national side.
In the 5th ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), Dhoni showed glimpses of his former self with a 34-run knock.
His 42-ball stay at the crease included a four and a last-over six that turned the tide in India's favor.
Dhoni's partnership with Manish Pandey, after Rohit Sharma's heroics at the top, helped seal a consolation win for the visitors.
The team will now switch into T20 cricket mode with the World Cup being scheduled to play in March on home soil.
India do not have any major 50-over commitments for the better part of the 2016.
The World T20 will be followed by more than a dozen of Test matches at home under Virat Kohli's leadership.
Dhoni has clearly lost the ability to play explosive knocks at this stage of his career.
"Most of the time, I find it tough to hit the ball straightaway, so I need to bat a few overs,” Mahi admitted during the post match press conference in Sydney.
Though there are no issues with regards to his fitness, the 34-year-old's batting position and form is definitely a cause for concern.
In such a scenario, it would be hardly surprising if we don't see the iconic skipper play another ODI match for India.
