Virat Kohli, Dhoni's deputy shared a photograph on Twitter saying that it was great to start the new season on Australian soil.

Prior to leaving for Australia, Indian cricketers attended BCCI's annual awards ceremony on Tuesday in Mumbai where Kohli received the Polly Umrigar Trophy which is given to India's Cricketer of the Year by the Indian board. The Delhi batsman bagged the trophy for the second time.

It will be a crucial series for India, where Dhoni said that the youngsters will be given a chance. Ahead of the ICC World Twenty20 to be held in India in March, it's a good opportunity for the players to prove their mettle at the highest level.

The first ODI is scheduled to be played on January 12 at WACA Ground in Perth.
