According to a Times of India report, Cricket Australia, West Indies Cricket Board, England Cricket Board and Cricket South Africa opposed the idea floated by Anurag Thakur at the meeting last month.

The vacant September slot has become the bone of contention between BCCI and ICC.

The Indian board wants to stage an overseas IPL, while the ICC has plans of conducting a World T20 during that period by making it a once in-two-years affair.

"If true, it's a telling sign of the reduced clout the current set of administrators (in the board) wield, unlike their predecessors. It's also a personal embarrassment for the men running the BCCI right now," a source told the newspaper.

The report also claimed that Thakur and Shashank Manohar are no longer on the same page and the latter even refused to discuss about the overseas IPL during the ICC meeting.

It must be said that this is the first time in long while that BCCI's stance has been opposed by other cricket boards.

It now remains to be seen how Thakur and co address this issue going forward.
