Jammu: A youth allegedly committed suicide after shooting at and critically injuring a teenaged girl in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Sunday.
"Darhsan (21) shot Kamlesh Devi (18) with his father`s gun at Bazmasta village in Ramban district here, critically injuring her yesterday morning," police said. He later shot himself and committed suicide on the spot, they said.
A police team has been sent to the spot, which is several hours of foot journey from the main road in the mountainous, snow-bound region. The girl has been admitted to a local hospital and is critically injured, they added.
The duo belonged to the same clan, and police is probing the possibility of unrequited love as a motive for murder, they said.
