Panaji: Goa government has adopted wait-and- watch approach before deciding whether to seek ban on Hindu right-wing organization Sanatan Sanstha, on the lines of neighbouring Maharashtra.
Sanatan Sanstha is headquartered at Ramnathi village in Goa, and eight of its members are on trial for 2009 Margao bomb blast. When asked if government was proposing a ban on the organisation, Goa Chief Secretary Sanjay Srivastava said that it would "wait and see".
"I read in newspapers that Maharashtra government has sent a proposal to Centre seeking a ban, but we have not sent any such proposal," he said. He said that state government was waiting for the Margao trial to get over, before taking any decision.
Two members of the organisation were recently convicted by a Mumbai court for low-intensity blasts in neighbouring areas in 2008.
