The arch-rivals were pooled together in the same group for the 2016 World T20 even as the proposed bilateral series between the neighbours failed to materialize.

When the World Cup draw was announced, cricket world celebrated the fixture, anticipating yet another block-buster clash.

However, with the family of a martyr condemning the fixture, many will treat with caution when the very mention of the match comes about.

Kalia, according to reports, also said that he will not allow Pakistani flag to be unfurled in India.

In May, Kalia started a petition on change.org demanding that India should take Pakistan to International Court of Justice for torturing and murdering his son on June 9, 1999.

In the petition, he wrote: ’My son was tortured. His eardrums were pierced with hot iron rods, eyes punctured, gouged out and genitals cut off. The Pakistan army burnt his body with cigarettes, broke most of his bones and teeth but he did not break his silence through this barbaric torture."

"They ultimately shot him dead. I am the proud father of Capt. Saurabh Kalia who laid down his life in Kargil war while being held as a prisoner of war by the Pakistani army’’.

Capt. Saurabh Kalia was killed during the Kargil War while being held as a prisoner of war by the Pakistani security forces.
