According to a report in The Guardian, Steyn will be replaced by the 20-year-old Kagiso Rabada.

This comes as a big worry for the Proteas given they lost the first Test match. Steyn had to twice pull out of bowling on day three of the Boxing Day Test in Durban after reporting pain in the joint, before undergoing a scan during the evening session.

Steyn had also missed three Test matches against India earlier due to injury and his misfortune continues.

South Africa are also without Vernon Philander who had injured his ankle in a football warm-up game during the series in India.

England will be confident ahead of the second Test match given South Africa's injury woes coupled with a dismal batting form by the batsmen.
