Imphal: Normal life was on Saturday affected in Manipur due to a 24-hour bandh called by major insurgent groups in protest against the state`s merger with the Union, official reports said.
Reports said markets, business establishments and shops were closed all over the state in view of the bandh. Transport services between Manipur and neighbouring states and within the state were cancelled in view of the bandh. Reports said that attendance in government offices was almost nil due to the cancellation of transport services.
The bandh has been called by major insurgent organisations including United National Liberation Front, Kanglei Yawol Kann Lup, Revolutionary People`s Front and People`s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak, reports said. The bandh which commenced from 6 pm yesterday would end at 6 pm today.
No untoward incident has been reported from any part of the state so far.
