Kevin Pietersen: Home advantage means India are favourites in ICC World T20
KP Thinks that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are real superstars of the game.
New Delhi: After Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, discarded England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has also said that India are the team to beat in the forthcoming ICC World T20.
KP, who had a wonderful Big Bash season Down Under, thinks that home advantage would favour the Men in Blue, who are the front runners to lift the coveted ICC trophy this year.
“There are so many teams who have world class players who can change a game, and that’s what you need in a competition like that. But I’d say right now, India are the ones to beat. Not only are they a great side, but home advantage means a lot,” Pietersen told Cricbuzz.
The big hitter of the cricket ball also thinks that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who had a wonderful tour of Australia with the willow, are real superstars in the slam bang version of the game.
“Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are genuine superstars of the game. I love watching these guys bat and I have a feeling they could be the ones to do the business,” added Pietersen.
However, Pietersen is quite upbeat about England's chances of winning the T20 World Cup. “It’s a really exciting time for our young squad as there’s so much talent in there. Guys like Joe Root, Jason Roy and Ben Stokes have been doing fantastically well and the new coach, Trevor Bayliss, seems to be doing the right things, which is fantastic.”
The much-anticipated tournament is to be held in India from March-April.
