Mohammad Shahzad (41), who was the Player of the match in the previous match for his 61-run knock against Scotland, followed it with yet another brilliant knock at the top.

Chasing a paltry total of 116 runs, Shahzad, along with Noor Ali Zadran (35), thrashed the inexperienced Hong Kong bowlers.

Earlier batting first, Hong Kong failed to capitalise on the 40-run opening stand by Jamie Atkinson (16) and Ryan Campbell (27). Mohammad Nabi ran through their batting order with a four-wicket haul and despite some resistance from Anshuman Rath, who scored unbeaten 28 runs lower down the order, the total on board wasn't a competitive one.

Afghanistan will now take on Zimbabwe in Match 9 of the tournament, scheduled to be played at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on March 12.
