Jaipur: A Police Inspector and Assistant
Sub Inspector, who were accused of harassing a lawyer who
allegedly committed suicide here, have been suspended.
Bhopal Singh Bhati (former SHO - Murlipura police station) and Shankar Lal (ASI- Murlipura police station) were suspended last night, the police said on Thursday.
Murlidhar Yadav, who was a practicing lawyer of a session court here, allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well near Samod in the district.
He was allegedly being harassed by Bhati and Lal in connection with a case which was lodged against Yadav at the Murlipura police station.
Following recovery of the body yesterday, thousands of lawyers protested on roads near session and high court and demanded immediate arrest of the accused. They also damaged a police vehicle and created unruly scene on the city roads for over five hours. The Rajasthan high court also ordered a CBI probe into the matter on the same day (yesterday) when Bar association of the high court filed a petition.
On the other hand, thousands of lawyers continued boycott of work here for second consecutive day today demanding arrest of the accused Inspector and ASI.
Kapil Mathur, a representative of Bar Association of Rajasthan High Court Jaipur, said that they will resume work after both of the accused are arrested.
Laxman Singh of session court also echoed the same demand. PTI
