R Ashwin, who has been the undisputed hero of this Indian team for quite some time, continued his good run as he claimed yet another ten-wicket haul to dent the Kiwis.

The Chennai-born offie, who picked six wickets in the first innings, followed it by bagging seven more wickets. It was Ashwin's 21st five wicket haul in the traditional format.

Earlier in the day, India declared their innings after Pujara reached his eighth Test ton.

After his three fifties in the series, Pujara pulled the monkey off his back with a brilliant century. Kohli declared the innings after Pujara reached his ton, giving visitors a 475-run target.

In reply, none of the Kiwi batsmen could put up a fight. How bad was their performance could be deciphered from the fact that Ross Taylor (32) was the highest run-scorer in the second innings for the visitors.

While Ashwin picked seven wickets in the second innings, Ravindra Jadeja picked two while Umesh Yadav had one wicket to his name.

The 3-0 win against New Zealand is Kohli's fourth successive series win as Indian Test captain.

Since 2015, India have defeated Sri Lanka, South Africa and West Indies under Kohli's captaincy.

Kohli will also be handed over the Test maze as India officially replaced Pakistan as No. 1 Test team.
