New Delhi: After a humiliating 3-0 series loss to India in Test series, New Zealand fought back with grit in the ODIs. Though the Kiwis ended up losing the 5-match limited overs' series too but the 3-2 margin of defeat was worthy of applause.

A young squad led by Kane Williamson took back a lot of positives an learning from their India tour but there was one costly mistake which turned out fatal for them.

The third match of the series was being played at Mohali and the Kiwis had put a strong total of 285 runs on board.


Chasing 286, India did not get off to the most impressive starts, losing both Ajinkya Rahane (5) and Rohit Sharma (13) cheaply.


It was an innings of 154 runs by Virat Kohli that enabled India in surpassing the target set by New Zealand.


However, it was only the 5th over of the match when Matt Henry was bowling to Virat Kohli, who got a thick edge and the ball went straight towards Ross Taylor, who was the only slip fielder placed at that time.


Taylor fumbled and the ball dropped out of his hands, Kohli was given a costly lifeline.


The result of the match, Kohli remained unbeaten and scored 154 to give India the victory.
