Aligarh: Reacting sharply to the recent incident of violence between two rival groups in the campus, teachers of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) have sought stern action against those involved in the clash.
The AMU Teachers` Association (AMUTA) held a meeting yesterday to pass a resolution condemning the clash and sought immediate action against the guilty students. Alleging that no steps were taken despite named FIRs being lodged against the culprits involved, teachers said this led to the worsening of situation in the campus.
AMUTA secretary Mustafa Zaidi said that if the Proctor failed to take action against the guilty, teachers would boycott invigilation and other exam related duties. The teachers have given the authorities time up to 5 pm tomorrow after which they would chalk out their further course of action.
Five students were injured on Wednesday evening when over a dozen youths, armed with sticks and country-made firearms, allegedly broke into a hostel building and went on a rampage following a minor altercation with a rival student group.
