The 26-year-old was shown the doors by national selectors in August 2014 for the fifth Test during the England tour after a string of poor performances in the longest format of the game.

But he managed to win the selectors trust once again, who announced the 16-member squad for the first two Tests against South Africa on Monday.

The all-rounder managed to impress them with back-to-back match-winning performances with bat and ball in the on-going Ranji Trophy season.

In the first two Ranji matches against Tripura and Jharkhand, Jadeja accounted for 24 wickets and played two crucial knocks of 91 and 58.

These two splendid performances helped him regain the spot in the Test squad as he replaced veteran offie Harbhajan Singh.

During MS Dhoni's reign, Jadeja was given a long rope even after a series of poor performances. Now it would be interesting to see how the all-rounder will be treated under the captaincy of Virat Kohli.
