India vs South Africa: After Nagpur pitch fiasco, all eyes on Kotla track
Five of the last six completed Tests in India have finished inside three days.
New Delhi: After the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that the pitch for the third Test in Nagpur had been rated “poor” by match referee Jeff Crowe, all eyes are now fixed on Feroz Shah Kotla track, where the fourth and last Test of the series is to be played.
Surprisingly, five of the last six completed Tests in India have finished inside three days, and if Kotla strip also starts turning from day one, then one can expect the same result for one more time.
To say the least, Kotla wicket doesn't enjoy a very good reputation.
For the records, in 2009, the Kotla track took a sabbatical from hosting international cricket for a period of 12 months after an India-Sri Lanka ODI was abandoned due to "unfit" pitch.
Besides that, Proteas assistant coach Adrian Birrell took a jibe after inspecting the Kotla pitch on Tuesday as he stated: “This one looks like it will last longer than three days".
Team India already has an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, which means the visitors would look for a consolatory win.
Final Test is scheduled to start from December 3.
