Rahane swept one hard from Dane Piedt towards Bavuma, who was fielding at short leg. The ball hit him on his hand and he was seen in pain. Rahane wasted no time in reaching out to him to make sure he was all right.

The Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) also hailed Rahane's gesture on Twitter.

At stumps on Day 1, Rahane was batting on 89 and also added a crucial 59-run stand for the seventh wicket with Ravindra Jadeja (24).
