Both new IPL teams picked five players each from a pool of 50.

Pune went for MS Dhoni, Ajinkya Rahane, Ravichandran Ashwin, Steve Smith, Faf du Plessis, while Rajkot got Suresh Raina, Rvaindra Jadeja, Brendon McCullum, James Faulkner and Dwayne Bravo.

The two sides will build their squads around these players when the main auction will be held on February 6.

However at the moment, one would have to say Pune boast of a superior side.

Apart from Dhoni, the Sanjeev Goenka-owned side has in-form Ashwin and Rahane along with two of the best overseas players Smith and Du Plessis.

Rajkot on the other hand has some quality all-rounders in Bravo, Faulker and Jadeja.

All-rounders are known to play a key role in this format.

However, it remains to be seen which players are bought by the two sides during the auction.

But it is fair to say, Pune have a slight edge for now.
