According to a report in the Hindustan Times, they belonged to the Rashtriya Dalit Mahasangh and wanted to damage the pitch ahead of the Gujarat Lions-Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL match.

Luckily, any damage to the pitch was prevented as officials spotted them in time and took necessary action.

“After the incident, we have heightened security as a precautionary measure. We will be more vigilant for upcoming games,”  SCA president Niranjan Shah told HT.

“It is unfortunate that they were able to go into the ground. Thankfully, they were spotted immediately,” said venue manager Himanshu Shah.

While the four men were stopped in their tracks just in the nick of time, the larger question of how they were allowed into stadium with hovels and rods still remains.
