Sources confirmed to the Times of India that former Kiwi cricketer Daniel Vettori's name has been suggested by Kohli but there was no confirmation yet if the Indian board is seriously considering it.

Vettori, who is currently the head coach of RCB as well as Big Bash League side Brisbane Heat, announced retirement from international cricket last year, after New Zealand's loss against Australia in the final of the ICC World Cup 2015.

Kohli replaced Vettori as the skipper of the Bangalore franchise in 2013.
