Hundreds evacuated in flood-hit Sindh
The Sindh province has been reeling under floods triggered by the rains over the past few weeks.
The navy has evacuated about 750 people from Jhudo, Pangrio, Tando Bagho and Ismail Brohi Goth areas of the province to safer places, the news website Daily Times reported Sunday.
At least 450 people were also given medical treatment at the camps set up by the navy in Jhudo, Pangrio and Tando Bagho areas as part of its Madad East operation.
Gilani said the government will provide all necessary help, including financial assistance, to the flood victims. The Prime Minister, who toured the relief camps in the province Saturday, directed the authorities to send medical teams, including women doctors, to the affected areas, according to the official APP news agency.
The navy has used hovercrafts and boats in the relief efforts. Tonnes of food and relief materials were also dispatched to the affected areas. The Sindh province has been reeling under floods triggered by the rains over the past few weeks.
